SKAI Converters
SKAI converters are designed to electrify on-highway commercial vehicles (CV), i.e. busses and trucks, as well as off-highway vehicles and machines for material handling, CAF, marine, and general light electric vehicles. The SKAI converters are flexible and smart platforms designed to become the power backbone of power-electronic systems. They provide top power technology and performance for customer specific solutions greatly improving time-to market and minimizing risk and cost. And with more than 30 years of field experience SKAI converters have proven perfectly suitable for on- and off-highway vehicle applications more than two million times.
SKAI Low Voltage Converters
The SKAI LV is a compact, third-generation low-voltage inverter platform designed for both on- and off-road electric vehicles with battery voltages of 48V and 80V/96V and motor-powers of 10kW - 50kW. It leverages Semikron Danfoss' 7th generation MOSFET inverter technology, with over 2 million units in use. Ideal for utility vehicles like forklifts and light electric vehicles, it enables quick and cost-efficient custom solutions by integrating existing or optimized control systems. The platform design supports customization and system integration. Built on high-reliability power technology, SKAI LV offers high power and maximum reliability across a wide range of low-voltage applications.
SKAI High Voltage Converters
The SKAI high voltage converter portfolio ranges from 50kW to 500kW with DC supply voltage up to 950VDC. The IGBT-based 2nd generation SKAI 2 HV platform features sintered and AlCu bonded power semiconductors, a polypropylene film DC-link capacitor, and is liquid-cooled in an IP67 housing. It operates up to 800VDC and 300kVA, meeting high power-density, ruggedness, and automotive EMI compliance. Variants can be customized, with 3rd party control software or µC customization possible. The 3rd generation SKAI 3 HV uses SiC MOSFETs and a Power Core with ultra-low inductance modules, low inductive DC bus capacitors connected to laser-welded busbars, and a closed cooler. It operates up to 950VDC and 600kVA. The SKAI 3 HV Power Core can be integrated into proprietary designs or developed individually upon request.
