Semikron Danfoss and Mitsubishi Set New Module Standard
NUREMBERG, June 8, 2026 – Semikron Danfoss, a leading global manufacturer of power semiconductors, today announced the joint development of a new standard package for power modules with integrated 3-level circuits. This was developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
New Standard Power Module Based on SEMITRANS 20

The new standard package, designed for industrial drive equipment and renewable energy systems, is based on the proven "SEMITRANS 20" package from Semikron Danfoss and the "LV100-type" package from Mitsubishi Electric. By optimizing the terminal layout specifically for 3-level circuits and ensuring compatibility, the new package will help customers standardize their inverter designs and diversify supply chains.
The versatile package is designed to be used for both IGBT and SiC technology up to 3.3kV, enabling a wide range of applications.
Background
The global push towards a carbon-neutral future is fueling a significant need for highly efficient power conversion technologies. This trend is especially prominent in the industrial sector, where there is a clear shift towards 3-level circuit topologies, valued for their superior energy savings and ability to enable more compact system designs. To meet this evolving market demand, Semikron Danfoss and Mitsubishi Electric have collaborated on a new standard package that integrates a complete 3-level T-type circuit. This joint development builds upon their proven 'SEMITRANS 20' and 'LV100-type' platforms, ensuring compatibility and empowering customers to standardize their inverter architecture.
Key Features of the New Standard Package
Standardization and Compatibility Through the "SEMITRANS 20" Platform
The new standard power module package features a standardized main terminal pinout and is based on the proven "SEMITRANS 20" high-power package from Semikron Danfoss and Mitsubishi Electric’s "LV100-type," ensuring compatibility in terminal layout and functions.
Versatility for Advanced Technologies
The package is designed to be usable for both IGBT and the latest SiC (Silicon Carbide) technologies, supporting voltages up to 3.3kV. This makes it a future-proof solution for high-power applications.
Higher Efficiency and Miniaturization of Inverters

The package consolidates a complex 3-level T-type circuit into a single power module instead of using complex configuration.
This integration simplifies the design of 3-level T-type inverters, contributing to higher overall inverter efficiency and miniaturization.
Optimized Terminal Layout for Enhanced Design Flexibility

The optimized placement of main electrode terminals reduces the module's parasitic inductance and simplifies the design of the inverter's busbars.
Equipped with three additional auxiliary (AUX) control terminals, the package simplifies the design of the drive circuitry and significantly improves design flexibility for high-power 3-level inverters.
Outlook
The package concept will be exhibited at the "PCIM Expo & Conference 2026" (June 9–11 in Nuremberg, Germany). Moving forward, Semikron Danfoss will develop its own products based on this new standard package, contributing to standardized inverter designs and expanding supplier options for customers.
